SUPPORT FOR PARENTS OR INTENDED PARENTS OF DONOR CONCEIVED CHILDREN

When and How to Tell/Managing Children's Expectations/Facilitating Contact with Donor and Siblings/Mutual Agreements and Boundaries/Whether to Use a Donor to Conceive and What Type (Open or Anonymous)

If your child or adult child is conceived from egg, sperm, or embryo donation or you're considering using a donor, there are certain things you should know about child psychology so that you give your child the best chance at developmental success (and, therefore, quite possibly life success). Being on the receiving end of secrecy regarding my conception, I can tell you the impact of not telling your child and he or she finding out later in life. When children are told early, their donor conception becomes a normal part of their life story  and, if given the chance to know the identity of their donor, they are no more likely to have psychological issues regarding identity than children born of traditional conception.
